Neve Ha’roe- Ashkelon, State Religious Children’s Home
The “Neve Ha’roe” Children’s Home was established in 1977 in order to provide an educational and rehabilitating framework for religious children in Ashkelon, who must be raised away from their natural homes due to court order.
The Home houses and educates 72 children aged 6-17, in 4 family units and two teen’s units.
Through this special family-unit model, which is a substitute to the children’s natural family, we help them develop a healthy personality, improve their self-esteem, and ability to overcome educational, cultural and social gaps.
We relate to each child individually, and thus help him fulfill his potential, good citizenship and independence. All, according to the Zionist-Religious concept of tolerance and respect.
The traditional religious character of the Home is expressed in day-to-day life by strengthening, and deepening Jewish identity in practicing Shabbath, Jewish holidays, and personal celebrations.
The synagogue is used, not only for holding services, but also for afternoon “Tora” classes and other religious activities.
A “Friends of the Home” association supports our Home by providing extra books, games, trips and pocket money.
The needs of the Home are many:
-Renewal of furniture and equipment $ 100,000
-Major construction of an old building. $ 400,000

Where would Michal have been today??
Michal was born the fourth child in her family. Her father was unemployed and an alcoholic, seldom visited his family and refused to provide them with any support. Michal’s mother, an illiterate works sometimes as a cleaning woman, in order to have some money for her family’s necessities. They are all on social welfare. Recently, Michal has been accepted to our Home. She has been gradually, restructuring her low self-image due to many years of neglect. We are endeavoring to help her grow into a healthy child. She is showing great improvement since she came to us. She participates increasingly in the various activities of her surroundings and peers and is able to express herself freely with confidence as other children her age
