"Neve Galim" Ashdod Children & Youth Village

Neve Galim - The Ashdod Children & Youth Village

The “Neve Galim” Children & Youth Village was built in 1977 and is located in the center of Ashdod. Due to it’s location it has access to all community services, which enable our children to integrate more easily and enjoy all that the city offers.
The Home houses and educates 84 children aged 7-18, in 6 family- units and one teen’s group.

Our goals concentrate on two major aspects.
To minimize learning gaps in the child’s formal education and to expand his informal education, while providing all basic needs essential for normal development.

The family-model provides the children with a home atmosphere and rehabilitating
experience. This model enables us to relate to each child individually and to pay special attention to his distress and difficulties.
Our investment in these children has a crucial impact in shaping their future as healthy, useful adults, both for themselves and for society.

The children participate in special activities and recreational classes, which take place in the facility and in the Community Center.

The Children's Village in recent years has become a community Children's Village, most of the children who find their home in this Village are from the city of Ashdod. They continue their education in those schools they have attended before they left their home.
As a community Children's Village, we try to involve parents in their children's educational process. A Process that requires hard work, courage and consistency in order to build healthier relations and a better communication between the child and his parents.

The Community boarding Village is trying to combine between the child’s emotional and educational needs and the child’s needs in maintaining his place at his parents home.
Respectively, this population of children who require residential treatment can produce continued ongoing contact with their families, and their parents expressing a desire to the get involved in the proposed treatment.

The Home is proud to have professional choir and dancing group that participate in community events and receive many complements for their performances

Close contacts are maintained with our graduates, most of who integrate successfully into Israeli society and have built a new life.

The needs of the Home are many and include constructing projects, as well as educational and therapeutic programs that need to be financed by our worldwide supporters.
Major construction of the family units                                 $ 500,000
Renewal of furniture and equipment                                   $ 100,000
Constructing a pet corner                                                   $  75,000
Building a Home for homeless Soldiers                            $ 1,000,000

We hope you will become our partner in creating a better future for our children.

Avi’s story
Avi was sent to the Ashdod Home through the recommendation of his school’s psychologist. He had great difficulties following class rules, did not study and suffered from learning gaps, despite his potential. In his own home Avi had a difficult time relating to his family, since there was no attention to his basic needs.
Avi came to us as a young, frightened child. His first encounter with the other children was very difficult. The older ones tried to patronize him. He had behavior and concentration problems, was very rude to his teachers and didn’t put any effort into his studies. Gradually, he got used to the new framework, to the children and to the staff.
Avi improved step by step, month by month and year by year. It was a hard time for him but with the help of our staff, the psychologist and the social worker, he obtained reasonable manners.
Today, Avi is a mature and responsible person. He dramatically improved his learning achievements and was elected as chairman of the students’ council of his school, and of the Children’s Home, which became an integral part of his life
